Little Brian's friends Matt and Kelly came out to visit. They are on Spring Break. Sunday Brian and Kevin went with Brian, Charlie, Matt and Kelly up to Rocky Mountain National Park. It was cold and there was still plenty of snow up there. Kevin of course refused to wear a coat or boots. Maybe next time!

Pinewood Derby
Saturday was the big pinewood Derby race for Cub Scouts. We went to Longmont to the mall there to hold it. The kids don't really get to do much this day but watch the "officials" race their cars. Lots of rules and regulations. That way no Dad can get mad and say that there was something unfair going on when the car he "helped" his son make does not win. Kevin did very little to help make his car. Showed very little interest and Brian tried very hard to get him interested. Brian did not do a lot of things he could have done because Kevin did not want them. Lots of kids thought Kevin's car was very cool so now Kevin is all full of plans for next year. Jenny and Cliff came to watch also.

Kevin Skiing
The pictures and movies were from Saturday. Kevin skied up to me then away from me. He would not let me take a picture of the fall where he did a spread eagle or a face plant. It was a very sunny day and he had gotten very hot so falling was one way to cool off. He also ditched the coat and helmet and only wore a sweatshirt and sunglasses. We stopped to take a snack break in a teepee along the slope, this is where the ditching of clothes began. I felt the inside of his coat and it was very warm indeed.

On Sunday it was another story entirely. It had snowed a ton and in our infinite wisdom we took him to the top of the mountain where there was even more snow and it was even colder and windier and we got what we probably deserved, a child that was very reluctant to go down. It started out okay but by the time we got to the top things were falling apart rather quickly. i got him down a steep part of the slope and then Brian got him down the rest of the way to a lodge where he ate pizza, of course, and warmed up. By then I came in and was beat from having skied a few runs by myself. it was awesome but tiring. So I took Kevin on down further. By the time we got to the run that he liked to do "Why Not" the wind had really picked up. It was blowing in his face quite hard in places to the point even his skin was red. but he made it down. They hadd shut down a lot of the lifts and the gondola due to wind. But he got through it. Afterwards as he was lounging in the backseat watching tv on the way home he said he really enjoyed relaxing that way. (lounging, tv) I suggested that was because he had worked so hard on the slopes and he agreed.
